What are the eligibility requirements for .EU domains after BREXIT?

Starting October 19th, 2019, the following are eligible to register .EU domain names:

(i) a Union citizen, independent of their place of residence;

(ii) a natural person who is not a Union citizen and who is a resident of a Member State;

(iii) and enterprise that is established in the Union; or

(iv) an organization that is established in the Union, without prejudice to the application of national law.

From the withdrawal date, enterprises and organizations that are established in the United Kingdom but not in the EU and as well as third country nationals who reside in the United Kingdom, will no longer be eligible to register .EU domain names. If they are already .EU registrants, they will also not be permitted to renew .EU domains that were registered before the withdrawal date.

From the date of withdrawal and as a result of the withdrawal from the United Kingdom, if the holder of a domain name does not meet the general eligibility criteria, the Registry for .EU will be entitled to revoke the domain name on its own initiative and without subjecting the dispute to any extrajudicial settlement of conflicts

If you own a .EU domain, we recommend that you update the registrant data of your domain to one that fulfills the .EU requirements, otherwise you might lose your domain.
